Questions about the additives line?
Innovative mixing and dosing system for potato flakes
The additiveline is specifically developed for the potato industry and ensures that the correct amount of additives is added during the production process of potato flakes. Potatoes are cooked and mashed. The desired additives are then added to the mashed potatoes. The mash is pressed through large rollers into a thin layer, also known as a film. This layer undergoes a rapid drying process until the desired moisture level is reached, after which the dried sheet is scraped off the drum. The sheet is then broken down into flakes of the desired size using a milling system, and subsequently packaged.
To give these potato flakes their desired flavor, color, and other properties, additives are introduced. These may influence product characteristics such as taste, a crispy bite, or extended shelf life. Optimized and streamlined production. This results in less waste, higher yield, and reliable, consistent end products.
Liquid dosing systems or dry
The system is designed to dose both liquid and dry additives with utmost precision. This allows different types of additives to be added accurately, contributing to a stable and reproducible production process.
Flexible configuration
The installation can be tailored to your needs, with the option of a single-tank system or a multi-tank configuration. This provides maximum flexibility and scalability, depending on your production requirements.
Our additive mixing and dosing system – the additiveline – is available in various configurations and can be equipped with a range of options. Feel free to contact us for tailored advice and discover which solution best fits your production process.
Fully automated Additive dosing system
Thanks to an advanced automation system, consistent product quality is ensured with minimal manual intervention. This reduces the risk of human error and increases the overall efficiency of the production process.
Custom food processing line
The Gpi additives preparation system is designed for the safe and efficient dosing, conveying, and mixing of powders and liquids within process installations for the food industry. The system can be equipped with a CIP cleaning system, hot and/or cold water unit, and various mixing principles, tailored to the specific product and process.
For the supply of additives, both a powder screw conveying system and a vacuum conveying system are possible, combined with big bag unloading or manual bag handling. This results in a compact and hygienic solution for reliable and flexible additives preparation.
Flexible solutions for potato and tomato processing lines
Our additives dosing system is designed to seamlessly integrate into a wide range of food processing production lines, supporting applications such as potato flakes, snacks, chips, mashed potato, ready-to-eat meals, pasta & gnocchi, and soups and sauces. Whether used within a potato processing line, potato chips processing line, or even as part of a broader vegetable processing line or tomato processing line, the system ensures accurate dosing and consistent product quality. It is also suitable for integration into complete lines for tomato processing and French fries processing lines, making it a versatile solution for modern food production environments.
Powder dosing system
Powder handling is the first stage of the additiveline. The dry additives are fed into the process line using Big Bags or smaller sacks via a Big Bag unloading station or a powder dosing system. Naturally, a combination of both options is also possible.
The additives are then transported to the mixing tanks either by vacuum or screw conveyor. Using a vacuum system allows for separate handling of dry and wet additives within the production line, increasing efficiency and preventing cross-contamination.
Volumetric dosing systems
In the second stage of the additiveline, the additives are mixed with water. A volumetric feeder doses the correct amount of additives into the water. The required type of agitator depends on the solids content and properties of the additives. This may range from a simple propeller agitator to a disperser, a turbo mixer, or even an inline mixer.
Various configurations are possible. A single-tank setup, where all additives are dosed into the same tank, or a multi-tank configuration, where specific additives have their own dedicated mixing tank. In a multi-tank system, additives can be added separately, which increases flexibility and promotes product quality.
Food dosing system
Once the additives are mixed with water, they can be dosed into a ricer or a cooking vessel.
A ricer can only receive liquid additives, while a cooker also allows for the addition of dry additives.
Throughout the year, the quality and characteristics of the potatoes used to produce potato flakes may vary. By adjusting the dosing percentages of the additives, it is possible to maintain consistent, high-quality potato flakes all year round.
