Questions about the Kelstream?
Scraped surface heat exchanger principle
The entire inner surface of the machine is continuously and thoroughly scraped during the production process. This ensures that no product remains on the wall, significantly reducing the risk of burning or scorching. It also ensures consistent product quality and extends cleaning intervals. This increases both the hygiene and efficiency of the process.
Extended surface heat transfer
The Kelstream scraped surface heat exchanger is equipped with dual heat transfer surfaces, meaning heat can be exchanged on both sides of the product. This innovative construction delivers highly efficient heat transfer within one compact unit. It significantly speeds up the heating or cooling process, contributing to energy savings and short process times.
Patented cartridge seal
Our exclusive, patented cartridge seal is specifically designed for long-term performance under demanding conditions. This seal prevents leakage, extends the lifespan of machine components, and ensures safe, low-maintenance operation. A reliable solution that supports uninterrupted production.
Large heated surface area with a small footprint
Thanks to its smart design, the Kelstream scraped surface heat exchanger offers a relatively large heated surface within an exceptionally compact housing. This results in a small footprint on the production floor while maintaining high processing capacity. Ideal for space-constrained environments, without compromising on performance.
Scraped surface heat exchanger applications
The Kelstream scraped surface heat exchanger is available in a wide range of models and sizes, ensuring there is always a configuration that perfectly matches your production capacity and process requirements. Depending on your application — whether it involves heating, cooling, or tempering viscous products — you can choose from various capacities, configurations, and designs. Moreover, the Kelstream can be delivered as a stand-alone unit or as a fully integrated component within your existing or new processing line.

Single-Wall & Double-Wall Scraped Surface Heat Exchangers
Gpi offers both single-wall and double-wall scraped surface heat exchangers, designed to meet a wide range of process and safety requirements. The single-wall version provides efficient heat transfer for standard applications, while the double-wall design offers an additional safety barrier to prevent cross-contamination between product and heating or cooling media. This makes the double-wall scraped surface heat exchanger particularly suitable for industries with strict hygiene and safety standards, such as food.
Scraped surface heat exchanger working principle
The Kelstream scraped surface heat exchanger continuously scrapes the entire heated or cooled surface, resulting in highly efficient heat transfer.
This scraping principle offers a significant efficiency advantage over conventional plate or tubular heat exchangers. In addition, the scrapers prevent product contamination on the surface wall.
Two heat transfer surfaces
The Kelstream scraped surface heat exchanger features two heat transfer surfaces. The heating or cooling medium is completely separated from the product area. Media that can be used include glycol, ice water, mains water, liquid ammonia, steam, or hot water.
The Kelstream scraped surface heat exchanger is equipped with two separate heat transfer surfaces. These dual surfaces enable maximum thermal performance within a compact system design. The applied heating or cooling medium is completely physically separated from the product area, eliminating the risk of cross-contamination or product pollution.
Depending on the specific process requirements and the desired temperature range, various heat transfer media can be used. Commonly used media include glycol, ice water, mains water, liquid ammonia, steam, or hot water. Thanks to this versatility, the Kelstream can be flexibly deployed across a wide range of industrial environments, from food processing to pharmaceutical production, where precise temperature control is essential for product quality and safety.
Heating or cooling products with solid components
With the Kelstream scraped surface heat exchanger you can cool and heat products that contain firm components, with a maximum size of 25mm. Product identity is preserved in this process.
CIP cleanable
The Kelstream scraped surface heat exchanger can be fully included in the existing CIP system. You can clean the Kelstream counterlow, whereby the scraping system can rotate clockwise or anticlockwise. This results in optimum cleaning of the Kelstream.
Patented cartridge seal
The Kelstream scraped surface heat exchanger is equipped with a patented cartridge seal. The seals are available as single or double seals. Based on the customer’s process and product parameters, we configure a suitable cartridge specifically designed for that particular application.
